International Staff Week at Riga Technical University
The Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management (FEEM) at Riga Technical University (RTU) is pleased to invite academic and administrative staff from Erasmus+ partner institutions to participate in our first International Staff Week (ISW), taking place from October 13 to 17, 2025, in Riga, Latvia.
The International Staff Week, with the theme “Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Teaching and Research Practices”, is designed for both administrative and academic staff working in the fields of business and economics. This event brings together higher education professionals to explore the intersection of digital innovation and sustainability in teaching, learning, and research. Through interactive sessions and collaborative exchanges, participants will have the opportunity to share best practices, discuss emerging challenges, and develop strategies that enhance the integration of AI and sustainability into business and economics education.
Participants will engage in a dynamic and inspiring programme, which includes:
🌍 Workshop on sustainable teaching tools
🤖 Seminar on AI tools in research
🎉 RTU Anniversary Celebration on October 14
🧠 RTU 66th International Scientific Conference “Scientific Conference on Economics and Entrepreneurship” (SCEE’2025) on October 16, where leading scholars and practitioners will explore the theme: “Transforming Entrepreneurship and Education for a Sustainable and Secure Future in Digital Age”
🏛️ Campus and city tours
🤝 Networking and knowledge exchange opportunities
👨🏫 Opportunities to teach and share expertise with RTU students and international colleagues
A detailed programme will be shared with selected participants after the application deadline, closer to the event.
Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Format:
This Staff Week is organised as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), combining short-term physical mobility in Riga with virtual component sessions held before the on-site activities.
In accordance with Erasmus+ guidelines:
• Staff participating for teaching purposes are expected to deliver a minimum of 8 teaching hours within the existing RTU courses
• Participants combining teaching and training may instead complete at least 4 teaching hours, alongside active participation in the training activities offered throughout the week
• Administrative staff may participate in the programme through the Staff Mobility for Training option
There is no participation fee for the event. Participants are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and meals. However, Erasmus+ funding is typically available through home institutions to support participation, including coverage for travel expenses and a daily subsistence allowance.
Application Details:
• Application deadline: July 1, 2025
• Who can apply: Academic and administrative staff from Erasmus+ programme partner universities
• If you are participating for teaching or combined teaching and training purposes, please indicate your proposed teaching topic or select one that aligns with your area of expertise and the theme of the week. Additionally, briefly describe your previous teaching experience at your home university. This information should be included in the application form.
Feel free to share this opportunity with colleagues who may also be interested in participating!
We look forward to welcoming you to Riga and RTU for a week of international collaboration, learning, and innovation.
