It is not uncommon for exchange students in Riga to rent apartments or separate rooms. However, RTU does not provide support or advise the students in search of alternative accommodation outside the RTU dormitories. Accommodation must be booked individually and RTU does not take any responsibility for the legitimacy of other home rental institutions or private realtors.
One of the popular options for students is a student hostel - Duck Republik .
Our exchange students suggest looking for accommodation using the experience of the previous exchange students who lived in Riga or looking for it in FB groups. The reported rent for accommodation for previous students was ranging between 200 – 500 EUR/month.

- View the apartment in person and meet the landlord/owner there.
- Avoid non-traditional payments.
- Pay only after signing the contract using payment methods that provide proof of payment.
- Ask for the original rental lease to stay with you, giving the landlord a copy of the agreement. In no case leave both with them!
